Aperte le iscrizioni per il Sardinia Grand Slam, la finale della World Kite League 2016
Babini (IKA): “Un’occasione unica per l’Italia e gli atleti azzurri”

Sono aperte ufficialmente le iscrizioni per il Sardinia Grand Slam, tappa finale della World Kite League 2016 organizzata dalla GLEsport sotto l’egida della IKA (International Kiteboarding Association), e con il contributo della Regione Autonoma della Sardegna con l’assessorato al Turismo e del Comune di Palau.
Il Sardinia Grand Slam, in programma dal 16 al 22 ottobre nella magnifica cornice di Porto Pollo, sarà aperto alle categorie Freestyle e Big Air, sia Men che Woman, e metterà in palio un montepremi complessivo di 50.000 euro.
“Ci saranno sicuramente tutti i migliori atleti della scena internazionale nelle rispettive discipline, sarà una vera e propria battaglia per aggiudicarsi il titolo di Campione del Mondo – è quanto dichiara Mirco Babini, presidente dell’IKA (International Kiteboarding Association), che aggiunge – In primavera si è aperta una nuova grande opportunità per l’Italia e la Sardegna, quella di riavere un evento di Kiteboard nella disciplina Freestyle e BigAir di spessore mondiale. Una grande occasione per tutto il mondo del kiteboard di poter competere in uno spot ai massimi livelli internazionali. Dopo aver dato lustro al sud dell’isola con i Campionati Mondiali di Racing nell’ultimo quadriennio si è optato per lo spot di Porto Pollo nel comune di Palau, una location storica e nota al mondo intero come spot windsurf, che merita sicuramente un grande evento del genere”.
Il Sardinia Grand Slam rappresenta inoltre una grande opportunità di conferma per l’intero movimento italiano: “Da quando sono presidente dell’IKA mi sono sempre impegnato ad avere eventi internazionali in Italia e a collaborare con organizzatori di prim’ordine. Non dimentichiamo l’importante valore che l’Italia ed in particolar modo la Sardegna ha sempre dato al kiteboard a livello mondiale. Sono davvero fiero inoltre di aver contribuito, insieme agli atri membri dell’IKA ed alla stretta collaborazione con World Sailing, all’ingresso di questa disciplina alle prossime Olimpiadi Giovanili (YOG) in programma a Buenos Aires nel 2018”.
Babini infine non si sbilancia sulle possibilità degli italiani in questa competizione, ma sottolinea: “Mi auguro che manifestazioni come il Sardinia Grand Slam, e tutta la World Kite League, diano la possibilità a nuovi atleti italiani e non di presentarsi sulla scena internazionale e dimostrare tutto il loro talento”.

Registrations are open for the Sardinia Grand Slam, the final of the World Kite League 2016
Babini (IKA): “It will be a battle for the title of World Champion”

Registrations for the Sardinia Grand Slam are officially open, this is the final event of the World Kite League 2016 organized by GLEsport under the aegis of IKA (International Kiteboarding Association), and with the support of the Regione Autonoma (Autonomous Region) of Sardinia together with the Department of Tourism and the Municipality of Palau.
The Sardinia Grand Slam is scheduled from the 16th to 22nd October in the marvellous backdrop of Porto Pollo and it is open to Freestyle and Big Air categories for both Men and Women, with a total money prize of 50.000 Euros.
“There will certainly be all the best athletes on the international scene in their respective disciplines, it will be a real battle for the title of World Champion – says Mirco Babini, president of IKA (International Kiteboarding Association), who also adds – Ever since I became president of IKA I have always committed to have international events in Italy and collaborate with leading organizers. I’m really proud to have contributed, along with the other members of IKA and the close collaboration with the World Sailing, to the admission of this discipline at the next Youth Olympic Games (YOG) to be held in Buenos Aires in 2018”.
Babini does not give away any opinion on the possibilities of the Italians in this competition, but he stresses: “I hope that events like the Sardinia Grand Slam and the whole World Kite League will represent a possibility for new Italian athletes as well as from other nations to step on to the international stage and show all their talent”.
